| Dealing with Deficit Spending: Money Management for Graduate Students |
Time: 3:30pm to 4:30pm Seminar Description: Participants in this workshop will learn how to maximize the value of their investment in graduate school; reasons to minimize the use of credit cards; and strategies to manage expenses with a limited income. This will be an interactive workshop with handouts and exercises to practice the money management steps discussed. Your Speaker: Michael Rupured, Consumer Economics Specialist and Senior Public Service Associate, University of Georgia Cooperative Extension Michael Rupured is a native Kentuckian currently serving as a Consumer Economics Specialist and Senior Public Service Associate with University of Georgia Cooperative Extension. As an extension specialist, he provides leadership to Georgia's financial management educational programs for youth and adult audiences. Michael is an Accredited Financial Counselor (AFC®), a past President and Distinguished Fellow of the Association for Financial Counseling and Planning Education, and a 2009 recipient of the prestigious Walter B. Hill Award for Distinguished Achievement in Public Service and Outreach. Before coming to Georgia in January 1999, Michael served as National Program Leader for Family Economics with the Cooperative State Research, Education and Extension Service in Washington, D.C. From 1990 to June of 1997, Michael served as Family Financial Education Specialist with the Kentucky State University Cooperative Extension Program in Frankfort. He received an M.S. degree in Family Economics as well as a B.S. in Family Resource Management and Consumer Studies from the University of Kentucky. |
