Three “ingredients” essential for building a successful business and entrepreneurial career will be the focus of a professional development workshop hosted by the Graduate School.  William Mangum, a successful artist from Greensboro, N.C., will discuss key principles of Alliance, Resourcefulness and Tenacity for transforming innovative ideas and research into new businesses and for solving problems to address social issues.  His multi-media presentation will provide a creative approach to help students understand how to use their own skills and passion to launch a successful career.

Your Speaker: William Mangum, Artist and Businessman

Beginning with just a 59-cent tray of watercolors, William Mangum launched an international art career, opening his first gallery, now known as William Mangum Fine Art, in Greensboro, NC (http://www.williammangum.com/).

Mangum’s paintings are inspired from nearly 30 years of travels throughout North Carolina and abroad and include depictions of several college campuses and golf courses throughout North Carolina. Most notably, Mangum’s depictions include Duke University, the University of North Carolina, Pebble Beach Resort and Pinehurst Resort.

In addition to a successful painting career, Mangum has partnered with several Fortune 500 companies including American Express, BMW and VF Corporation to define trendsetting programs and merchandising programs. He has also been featured in publications such as Southern Living and Southern Accents and was recently interviewed on The NBC Evening News- Making a Difference for his work with homeless agencies across North Carolina.
