Objectives:
The University of Georgia College of Veterinary Medicine is offering a non-thesis masters degree in Food Animal Health and Management. The objectives of this program are to provide the candidates with skill sets critical to the food animal industry.
-A broad understanding of the production livestock industry
-Scientific methods necessary for investigation of production concerns and disease outbreaks
-Communication (abiltity to move the idea forward)
-Data management and evaluation
-Critical reasoning
-Students will have the option of focusing on beef, dairy or swine.
-Through a cooperative arrangement with a production company, government agency, pharmaceutical company or biologics company, degree candidates will plan, execute and summarize at least one epidemiologic study or trial. Clinical experience will teach students to prioritize, evaluate and resolve production issues. Development of leadership and programmatic planning skills is also expected.
