UGA Doctoral Student Wins Award for Outstanding Thesis
Jennifer McMahon received the Distinguished Master’s Thesis Award at the Conference of Southern Graduate Schools (CSGS) in Little Rock, Arkansas. McMahon, who earned a master of arts in sociology from UGA in May 2005, also holds undergraduate degrees in criminal justice and psychology from the university and is currently enrolled in the doctoral program in sociology. Her thesis, titled “Marital Rape Laws, 1976-2002: From Exemptions to Prohibitions,” won in the social sciences, business and education category. The prestigious award recognizes excellence in research and writing by graduate students. McMahon received $500 plus travel expenses to attend the 2006 CSGS meeting February 24-27. Jody Clay-Warner is McMahon’s major advisor. |
