Diversity Awards
The Graduate School is seeking nominations for its three annual diversity awards. The diversity awards recognize students and faculty for striving for a diverse learning environment and working with underrepresented populations.
Graduate School Faculty Diversity Award
The faculty diversity award recognizes a faculty member who demonstrates significant efforts to promote classroom diversity, foster interaction between faculty and underrepresented populations, and enhance diversity programs on campus.
The recipient will be chosen by a faculty committee appointed by the Dean of the Graduate School. A one-time $1,000 cash prize will be given.
Nominations may be made by faculty members, UGA administrators or a UGA-recognized student group.

Graduate Student Diversity Engagement Award
The graduate student diversity engagement award recognizes two graduate students for their efforts to achieve and maintain diversity and inclusion on UGA’s campus or within the larger community. In addition, the awards acknowledges the outreach accomplishments related to diversity though conducting research, engaging in scholarship, or servicing the community.
The two recipients will be chosen by a faculty committee appointed by the Dean of the Graduate School. Two $1,000 cash prizes will be given.
Nominations may be made by faculty members, staff, and students.
Students nominated for the 2010 Graduate Student Diversity Engagement Award are not eligible to be nominated for the 2010 Diversity Research Scholarship. Previous recipients of either award are not eligible to be nominated in a subsequent year.

Diversity Research for Graduate Students
The diversity research scholarship will be given to support the research related to the experiences, realities, and/or contributions to underrepresented populations. The scholarship can be applied to research for a dissertation, thesis, or final project.
The recipient will be chosen by a faculty committee appointed by the Dean of the Graduate School. One award of $1,500 will be given.
Department heads and graduate coordinators are invited to nominate up to two students from their department for this award.
Students nominated for the 2010 Diversity Research Scholarship are not eligible to be nominated for the 2010 Graduate Student Diversity Engagement Award. Previous recipients of either award are not eligible to be nominated in a subsequent year.
