Dean's Message
Thank you for your interest in pursuing graduate studies at the University of Georgia. I hope you will find the information on this Web site helpful, whether you are a prospective or current student, a faculty member, or an alumna or alumnus of the university.
Graduate students are important to our society for a variety of reasons. They are an investment in our economy. They enhance workforce development. They better our standard of living by creating knowledge and advancing discoveries in research that benefits all of us. They serve as mentors and educators for undergraduates, thus directly affecting not only the quality of our graduate programs, but also that of our undergraduate ones. Graduate students inspire and encourage us to think critically and persevere in our quest for answers to even the most challenging questions.
Graduate students are our future.
I hope the University of Georgia Graduate School is in your future, as a student or as a benefactor of students. UGA has much to offer, such as state-of-the-art research facilities, including three principal libraries, a graduate faculty of more than 1,700 members, and dozens of doctoral, master’s and specialist degree programs. More than a beautiful campus, UGA also provides the perfect environment for our approximately 6,300 graduate students to explore the possibilities, test their theories and grow from students to scholars.
I welcome you to the University of Georgia Graduate School and look forward to your contribution to our institution, our community and our world. If you are a prospective student, I look forward to seeing you and to your making the university stronger than ever. If you are a currently enrolled student, I wish you the best in your research and in your plans upon earning your degree. And if you are an alumna or alumnus, please remember that you can become involved again with graduate education at the university by making a gift to fellowships, scholarships or specific programs that enhance the graduate experience of our students. They need you, just as we need their inventions, discoveries and research endeavors.
Achievement is flourishing at the University of Georgia Graduate School. Come join us!
Sincerely,
Maureen Grasso, Dean
